(...As a reminder that different brown people are doing their thing, use it as detox from reading Seventeen Magazine, use it to find ideas for a haircut, to remind yourself you're not an invisible freak, to procrastinate on your postcolonial studies paper...whatever you please.)(this is of course not one of those stupid rating things though.) We try to keep this space as uncomplicated as possible so that you are able to use and interpret it in any way you please. But we would like to mention that the people we link to and appear in the images we dig up from the 'net are not in any way involved with this little project (see here). Also, we are not neccessarily promoting any of the content that appears on the webpages that we link to...unless they're interesting film projects, desi activists or people that write about diasporic identities -- we're usually really into that shit. Lastly, there is no need to be offended if your comment(s) get deleted...we are unreasonable control freaks with the comments section since the images and people we post about aren't involved in what we do. We try to be nice like that. Its also because this is not a negative space, but rather a space dedicated to enjoying images of people and their browness in all forms (especially those that might deviate a bit in various ways from the slick bollywood images that we here at ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif){kind=small} brownpeople regularly consume). We are not trying to reduce anyone, including ourselves, down to some generalizing socially constructed label (believe us when we say we've thought about this and have lovingly read Himani Bannerji and the like). Its just nice to see pictures of brown people...but we're not oblivious to the fact that this project has multiple meanings that go beyond narcissistic ethnic navel-gazing...we just dont want to get really pretentious and think of this blog on live journal as something more than a bunch of hand picked images of brown people.
